The Tyrolean Oberland is easily accessible by car on many routes. Ask route planners, buy a vignette and off you go.
How to arrive by car or motorbike:
- Kempten - Reutte - Fernpass - Imst - Landeck - Prutz|Ried|Pfunds
- Lindau/Feldkirch - Arlberg Tunnel - Landeck - Prutz|Ried|Pfunds
- Vienna - Linz - Salzburg - Innsbruck - Landeck - Prutz|Ried|Pfunds
- Munich - Rosenheim - Kufstein - Kramsach - Innsbruck - Landeck - Prutz|Ried|Pfunds
- Bolzano- Merano - Reschenpass - Nauders - Pfunds|Ried|Prutz
There are a few important things to bear in mind:
- There is a highway toll in Austria. If you are caught without a valid vignette, you have to pay heavy fines. The vignettes are available at kiosks and petrol stations. They are valid for 1 day, 10 days, 2 months or the whole year.
- The vignette requirement also applies in the Landeckertunnel (bypass possible)
- In Austria, winter tires are mandatory from November 1 to April 15, and you need appropriate equipment, including snow chains depending on the weather.
- Safety vests are also compulsory in Austria - for every passenger who leaves the car in the event of a breakdown or accident.
Local driving ban for motorcyclists
In the districts of Reutte and Imst, a ban on particularly noisy motorcycles has been imposed on certain selected routes. It shall apply from 10 June to 31 October 2020. More information can be found here.
