Concert by Dominik Plangger at Sigmundsried Castle
Dominik Plangger was born and raised in the South Tyrolean Vinschgau Valley and has been making music since his earliest youth. He counts Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie, Townes Van Zandt and Konstantin Wecker, but also singer-songwriters such as Reinhard Mey and Hannes Wader among his influences and sings in German. While Dominik Plangger started out as the frontman of a rock band, he later turned to acoustic guitar and defines his music as indie folk.
His first CD "Gestern noch" was released in 2008. This was followed by a series of highly acclaimed performances, including in Bavaria at the "Songs an einem Sommerabend" festival. There, in 2009, Konstantin Wecker became aware of him, with whom he has since appeared on stage several times.
The second album "Am Fenster", released in 2010, shows Dominik Plangger as a mature songwriter who has taken his time to develop as an artist. He has played in Ireland, but also in other European countries as a street musician. In his lyrics, he raises his voice critically against war, racism and fascism and sings in favour of freedom and revolution: "I just can't stand by / as the walls crumble, this world collapses / I want to make a difference, I see it as my duty". Dominik Plangger's third album will be released on 4 October 2013. 'Hoffnungsstur' was released under Konstantin Wecker's label 'Sturm & Klang'
